Abstract::
      Esophageal cancer is a highly prevalent malignant tumor in China. Its oligometastatic state lies between localized disease and extensive metastasis, and has been regarded as an important window for clinical intervention in recent years. Currently, immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have become the first-line standard treatment for advanced esophageal cancer, but the clinical benefits for patients remain limited. Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) is characterized by high precision and high dose, which can not only achieve local control of oligometastatic lesions in esophageal cancer but also induce systemic antitumor immune responses. The two have a synergistic effect, and thus the combined application mode of SBRT and immunotherapy is becoming a research hotspot. This review focuses on the latest progress of SBRT combined with ICIs in the treatment of oligometastatic esophageal cancer, covering the evolution of the disease definition, potential synergistic mechanisms, and relevant studies, aiming to provide valuable references for clinical practice.
