Abstract::
      Radical surgery for head and neck cancers (HNCs) frequently causes extensive tissue defects. In this case, flap transplantation is required to restore the patients' functions and appearance. The biological characteristics of HNC indicate that radiotherapy is frequently needed for the patients to reduce the risk of recurrence. However, clinicians are often confused with practical challenges regarding postoperative radiotherapy, including target volume delineation, radiotherapy dosage, the necessity of concurrent chemotherapy, and the potential of the increasing risk of flap-related complications. This study reviews existing literature on radiotherapy for head and neck tumors after flap reconstruction, aiming to provide a reference for clinical decision making.
