| FLASH radiotherapy is a technique involving the delivery of irradiation at ultra-high dose rates (≥ 40 Gy/s). Compared to conventional dose rate radiotherapy (CONV), this technique can significantly reduce radiation-induced injury to normal tissues and the duration of radiotherapy while maintaining equivalent tumor-killing capacities. High-energy X-ray FLASH irradiation (X-FLASH), a novel radiotherapy, has seen a surge in the number of preclinical studies in an effort to accelerate its clinical translation. However, there is a lack of consensus regarding standardized experimental procedures. This study aims to establish a standardized preclinical research framework for X-FLASH that covers the entire experimental workflow, including ionizing radiation dosimetry, in vitro cell irradiation experiments, and irradiation models of both healthy and tumor-bearing mice for in vitro irradiation experiments. The purpose is to provide reproducible preclinical procedures for elucidating mechanisms underlying the FLASH effect, validating device performance, and guiding future clinical studies. |
