Abstract::
      Objective To investigate the protective effects of the water part of Selaginella Tamariscina on hematopoietic system in γ-rays irradiated mice. Methods 1Kunming mice were administered with drugs or water 1 week before exposure to 8.0 Gy 60Co γ-rays, 30 d survival, the average life-span of dead mice, the changes in the mice' weights and the number of WBC after irradiation were recorded. 2 Kunming mice were administered with drugs or water at hours 72, 48, 24 before and immediately after exposure to 6.0 Gy 60Co γ-rays, the changes of apoptosis and cell cycle of bone marrow cell in irradiated mice were recorded. Results The water part of Selaginella Tamariscina could increase significantly the 30 d survival, the average life-span of dead mice and the number of WBC, inhibit the loss of the weight in irradiated mice; decrease the percentages of bone marrow cell in G0 G1 phase, increase the percentages of bone marrow cell in G2 M and S phase, and decrease significantly apoptosis of bone marrow cell in irradiated mice. Conclusions The water part of Selaginella Tamariscina has protective effects on hematopoietic system in irradiated mice.
