Abstract::
      Objective To investigate the effects of whole body irradiation with heavy ions and X-ray at different doses on mice bone marrow cell cycle distribution, and to provide the basic data for biological-object-oriented hadrontherapy(OOBH). Methods The BALB/c mice were irradiated with heavy ions and X-ray, and the bone marrow cells were harvested after 24 hours, and then the cell cycle distribution were analyzed by flow cytometry. Results At 24 h after irradiation, bone marrow cell cycle distribution of the X-ray groups were not different from the control. While in the heavy ions irradiation groups, G1/G0 phase and G2/M phase were markedly arrested compared with the control group as well as X-ray irradiation group at the same dose. Conclusions The heavy ions irradiation was more dangerous on the mice bone marrow cells than the X-ray irradiation at the same doses. They induced different relative biological effects.
