Objective To study beam weight optimization with Scaled Conjugate Gradient (SCG) algorithm implemented as the intensity modulated radiation therapy(IMRT).Methods The objective function is based on dose constrain as well as the dose homogeneous constrain and important factors of tissue. Two and three dimensional isodose contours and dose-volume histogram are used to evaluate the treatment planning. Results It is shown that beam weight optimization in IMRT based on SCG algorithm can obtain highly conformal dose distributions within a clinically acceptable computation time. SCG algorithm is valid and efficient to accelerate the optimization process. Conclusions SCG may have a wide application in facilitation of IMRT treatment planning. |
