Abstract:: |
Objective To study the radiation injury in periphery blood lymphocytes in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients and explore the possibility of radiation biological dosimeter by chromosome aberration and HPRT gene loci mutant frequency . Methods Before and after the patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma accepting radiotherapy, chromosome aberrations and HPRT gene loci mutant frequencies of lymphocytes in periphery blood were investigated. Results Chromosome aberrations and HPRT gene loci mutant frequencies of lymphocytes in patients before radiotherapy were statistically higher than those in controls and lower than those in patients after radiotherapy. Conclusions The combined investigation of chromosome aberrations and HPRT gene loci mutant frequencies in periphery blood may be expected to be radiation biological dosimeter to judge the radiotherapy-induced genetic damage . |
