Abstract:: |
Objective To prospectively study the survival of adult patients with malignant cerebral gliomas after postoperative radiochemotherapy. Methods From Sept. 1999 to May 2003, 50 adult postoperative patients with malignant cerebral gliomass were treated and they were divided into two groups, each including 25 cases. One group was irradiated with DT54-60 Gy, the other group was combined with chemotherapy(VM-26 and Me-CCNU) after exposure to DT20 Gy. Results The 1, 3, and 5 year survival rate of the two groups of patients were 56%, 24%, 6% and 72%, 48%,20.11%, respectively(χ2=4.05,P=0.044). And the median survival time was 16 and 36 months, respectively. Conclusions Given concurrent radiochemotherapy postoperatively, the survival rate could be enhanced in adult patients with malignant cerebral gliomas. VM-26 combined with Me-CCNU should be an effective chemotherapeutic scheme. |
