Abstract::
      Objective To explore the expression of survivin, an anti-apoptosis gene, in EL-4 cell line and its relationship with the expression of P53. Methods EL-4 cells were irradiated with 4 Gy X-rays to induce the expressions of survivin and P53. Flow cytometry assay was used to detect the expression of survivin and P53 and incidence of apoptosis following the irradiation. Results X-ray irradiation of 4 Gy down-regulated the expression of survivin in EL-4 cells while the expression of P53 was upregulated. A statistically lower expression of survivin was observed at 4 h after the irradiation when compared with the control group (P<0.001), while the expression of P53 was significantly increased in the exposed group (P<0.01). The incidence of apoptosis in the exposed group were significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.001). Conclusions It is shown that survivin and P53 play important roles in regulating the cell apoptosis, and suggested that a possible correlation exists between expressions of survivin and P53.
