Abstract::
      Objective To study clinical therapeutic effctiveness of combined 3-dimensional conformal radiotherapy(3DCRT)and transcatheter arterial chemoembolization for portal vein tumor thrombus(PVTT)in unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). Methods 33 patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma complicated with tumor thrombus in the portal vein were enroled in this study. RT was started 1-2 fractions following TACE. A total dose of 45-60 Gy was given as daily 2-4 Gy fractions, with the gross tumor volume(GTV) defined as only PVTT, 90% isodose line covering PTV. Results The effective rate was 54.6%. Survival rates at year 1 and 2 were 45.5% and 21.2%, respectively. Conclusions 3DCRT combined with TACE is an effective method in the treatment of portal vein tumor thrombus in unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma.
