Abstract:: |
Objective To evaluate and compare the difference in image quality and radiation dose between flat detector(FD) DSA(PHILIPS Allura Xper FD20, Holland) and II/TV DSA (PHILIPS Integris CV12, Holland) in fluoroscopic application. Methods Based on threshold contrast_detail detectability (TCCD) technique, phantom T0 10 was tested by both systems with the following entrance air kerma(EAK) levels at the X ray detector entrance plane: 5, 10, 20, 40, 60 and 80 nGy/frame in fluoroscopic application. Three observers scored each fluoroscopy image sequence using double blind method, calculated the threshold detection index(HT), and drew the detection index figures. Results Both systems have the same HT value when EAK level was 5 nGy/frame.As the EAK level was increased, the HT value of FD DSA system increased broadly, but the II/TV system increased slowly. However the HT value of the II/TV system decreased if the EAK level was increased too high. Radiation dose of the FD DSA was less than half of the II/TV DSA radiation dose during clinical application at the same HT value. Conclusion Image quality of the FD DSA is better than II/TV DSA. The FD DSA will reduce the radiation dose to the patient and doctor greatly comparing with II/TV DSA at the same image quality. |
