Abstract::
      Objective To study the effects of intestinal RNA on intestinal mucosal barrier and bacterial translocation in mice after abdominal γ-irradiation. Methods Twenty-eight BALB/c male mice were abdominally irradiated with 11.50 Gy 60Co γ-rays, and then injected with intestinal RNA on jejunum within 3 hours after the irradiation.All the mice were sacrificed on the 5 d after irradiation. Changes of intestinal mucosal histomorphology were observed with light microscope and scanning electron microscope, and then crypt survival rate and bacterial metathetic rate were calculated.The experimental data were analyzed with SPSS 13.0. Results Intestinal RNA significantly increased the crypt survival rate of jejunum in mice after irradiation (P<0.01). Intestinal villous atrophy and collapse,submucosal edema, and necrosis of crypts were observed in the irradiated control group.Intestinal mucosal morphosis was significantly improved in the RNA group compared with that in the irradiation control group. Intestinal RNA decreased the intestinal bacterial metathetic rate. Conclusion Intestinal RNA can improve intestinal mucosal barrier and decrease intestinal bacterial metathetic rate in mice after irradiation.
