Abstract:: |
Objective To research the effects of ionizing radiation on apoptosis and pattern of changes in cAMP and melatonin (MLT) contents of pinealocytes. Methods The percentage of apoptosis of pinealocytes in mice was determined with flow cytometry. The contents of cAMP and MLT in pinealocytes were measured with radioimmunoassay and high preformance liquid chromatography, respectively. Results The percentage of apoptotic pinealocyte was observed in mice 12 hours after irradiation. The results showed that the percentage of cell apoptosis increased gradually after irradiation with 0.5-6.0 Gy X-rays. The content of cAMP in mouse pinealocytes reduced gradully after irradiation with 1.0-6.0 Gy, and was significantly lower after irradiation with 4.0-6.0 Gy than that in the control group (P<0.01). The content of MLT secreted by mouse pinealocytes decreased gradually 12 hours after irradiation with 1.0-6.0 Gy X-rays. Conclusion High dose ionizing radiation has inhibitory effect on the function of pinealocytes. |
