Abstract:: |
Objective To establish a practical mathematical model for calculating radon exhalation rate from soil in some regions of China. Methods Based on soil radon diffusive theory,a model including the influences of soil radium content,emanation coefficient,soil porosity and moisture saturation on radon exhalation was established.To test the model,both field measurements on radon exhalation rate and laboratory experiments on related soil properties were carried out totally at 30 points in Beijing and other cities. Results About one third of the samples had very similar calculated values to their measured values.We also discussed the distribution of the errors as well as the reasons causing the errors,which would show direction for the improvement of the model. Conclusion In spite of the large uncertainties in the model which is influenced by so many factors,we can see considerabe validation of the model. |
