Abstract::
      Objective To observe the oxidative injury and the protective effect of antioxidant compound in kidney induced by local 60Co γirradiation in tumorbearing rats. Methods The tumor cell line Walker256 cells were injected into rats to get solid tumors,which were then removed and cut into small pieces for embedding into the right rear buttocks of rats.As the embedded tumors grew up successfully,the rats were randomly divided into 3 groups:tumor group,irradiation group and protection group.Normal rats served as the controls.The protection group was given antioxidant compound by gavage and other groups were given the same volume of water.The irradiation group and protection group were γirradiated locally with a total dose of 47 Gy in 4 weeks,then all the rats were sacrificed and the kidneys were collected to measure the content of malondialdehyde(MDA),the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and total antioxidant capacity(TAC). Results The content of MDA in the irradiation group was much higher than that in other groups(P<0.05).The activities of TSOD and TAC in the irradiation group were much lower than those in other groups.(P<0.01,P<0.01). Conclusion Local irrdiation can induce oxidative injury to the kidney of the rats,and the antioxidant compound sows good protective effect.
