Abstract:: |
Objective To study the protective effect of Hpp against sub-acute radiation damage. Methods Hpp was administered through foods to mice for four weeks,then the mice were exposed to whole-body 60Coγ-rays with 0.125 Gy daily from Monday to Friday for another four weeks. Eight indices including leucocyte count,DNA damage of the spleen cells and the expression levels of SOD、MDA and CAT of erythrocyte,abnormal sperm number, chromosome aberration rate and expression level of hepatocyte caspase-3 were measured on the next day after the last exposure. Results In the two doses of Hpp-treated groups,the amount of leucocyte,DNA content of the spleen cells,SOD and CAT of erythrocyte were higher,while chromosome aberration rate and the hepatic cells caspase-3 in pancreatic cells were lower than those in the positive control group with significant dose-effect relationships. Conclusion Hpp has a significant protective effect against sub-acute radiation damage. |
