Abstract::
      Objective To estimate elemental burdens in main organs, tissues and the whole body of a Chinese adult man. Methods Muscle, rib, liver, kidney, lung, thyroid, heart, stomach, spleen and small intestine samples were obtained in autopsy from 21 supplemental subjects died suddenly, who had been healthy and normal before death and lived in 4 areas with different dietary types in China. Based on determined concentrations of 37 elements in these samples together with those in samples of 31 subjects collected in the past, the organ or tissue and body burdens were estimated by using relevant organ, tissue weights for Chinese Reference Man. Results The data for burdens of 37 elements in 10 kinds of organs or tissues and the whole body for these Chinese adult men were obtained. Conclusion Besides improving representative property of the formerly reported results for I in thyroid and 33 elements in other 5 kinds of organs or tissues, this research obtained the burden data of these elements in heart, stomach, spleen, small intestine and Be, Cl, S, I in these 10 kinds of organs or tissues (except I in thyroid) for the first time in China. These results provide more systematic and representative basis for developing background values of determined elements, both reference values of related burdens for Chinese Reference Man and parameters of bio-kinetic models than before.
