Abstract:: |
Objective To investigate the physical and chemical characteristics of depleted uranium (DU) aerosol formed by simulated impact. Methods After DU combusting,aerosol samples were collected,and the dispersity,oxide and isotopic component,solubility in simulated lung fluids,and changes in aerosol concentration with time and distance were analyzed. Results The concentration lowered to 1/30 within 10 min.The twice determined MMAD values of DU dust were 1.3 and 4.2 μm.The concentration distribution of DU dust in chamber wasn't uniform.The oxide was composed of 55% U(Ⅳ) and 45% U(Ⅵ).The solubility of DU oxides in simulated lung fluid was 24% and 32% after one week and one month,respectively. Conclusions Most of DUs impact combustion aerosol can be inhaled.The disperse/deposit tendency and the variation of DU aerosol with time in chamber are sharp.The oxide of DU has good solubility in simulated lung fluid. |
