Abstract::
      Objective To study the radioprotective effects of rhIL-8 on irradiated mice and its mechanism. Methods Single intraperitoneal injections of rhIL-8 at 10 μg or 30 μg at different times to BALB/c mice before they were exposed to 8.5 Gy or 6.5 Gy 6 MV X-rays.The survival state of mice and some monitoring indices were observed. Results The survival times of irradiated mice were closely related to the dose lever of rhIL-8 and the injection time.CFU-GM counts of bone marrow cells,serum total contents of superoxide dismutase (T-SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA),and immunity function indices were examined in all mice at six days after expousure 6.5 Gy 6 MV X-rays.It is showed that the examination findings and the survival state of irradiated mice were interrelated with one another. Conclusion rhIL-8 has certain radioprotective effects through complex mechanisms of modulation of hematopoiesis, immuno-modulation,clearance of free radicals,etc.
