| Abstract:: |
| Objective To clarify the levels of the natural environmental γ radiation dose rate in China. Methods Reliabilities of the instruments and methods used in both surveys [1,2] are evaluated by analysing and discussing practical data. Results The quality control instrument(RSS 111)and method used in the survey [1] are consistent with the international standard,and are reliable.The quality control instrument(AEI)of the survey [2] is about 10% lower than the international standard.And the method of deducting the response to cosmic radiation from meter reading for measuring natural γ radiation dose rate led to the lower results. Conclusions The data of survey [1] about natural γ radiation dose rats in China are representative.The population weighed average absorbed dose rates in air at 1 m above the ground from natural γ radiation are 80.3 nGy·h-1 ,119.5 nGy·h-1 and 79.5nGy·h-1 for outdoor,indoor,and roads, respectively.The annual average effective dose and annual collective effective dose to the population in China from natural γ radiation were estimated to be 684 μSv and 9.6×105 man·Sv,respectively. |
