| Objective To research the radioprotective effect of Hu Sheng Bao (HSB) on γ-ray induced injury and to provide an experimental basis for the clinical use of HSB. Methods Mice were treated with three different doses of HSBor normal saline (the control group).All groups were irradiated once with 7.5Gy 60Co γ-rays, and then the difference in survival rates and the changes in blood cells were observed. Results The 30 day survival rate, WBCand PLTcounts of HSB-protected mice were all much higher than those of the control group.The protection factor reached 1.77. Conclusion HSBhas significant anti-radiation effect and can effectively raise the survival rate of mice irradiated with a lethal dose of 60Co γ-rays and it can also reduce the radiation injury of WBCand PLTin mice. |
