Abstract::
      Objective The research was conducted in accordance with the investigation outline of environmental radiation background in ambient areas of Guangdong Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant which defined the areas contents and items of the investigation. Methods CaSO4:Dy with compensator and LiF:Mg, Cu, P thermoluminescent dosimeters(CTLD) were used in this investigation. A total of 36 monitoring points in an area with a radius of 80 km outside the nuclear power plant were set up. Four surveys were conducted for three months of continuous measurement each. The quality assurance measures included that the TLD performance was tested by National Institute of Metrology and an intercomparison between TLD and a pressurized ionization chamber (CPIC) was conducted by the Laboratory of Industrial Hygiene Min-istry of Health,in Beijing reference exposure field.Results In the areas with radius of 0-5,0-10,0-20 and 0-80km, the monthly accumulative absorbed doses were 94.6±28.2,88.8±25.8, 84.0±27.land 85.6±25.3μGy, respectively. Conclusion Both TLDs are suitable for environmental radiation monitoring. The fluctuations of the measured values with the seasons at most monitoring points are small which is in agreement with the results measured by PIC.
