Objective To study the antiradiation effect of hericium erinaceus polysaccharide on irradiated mice. Methods 520 female mice were randomized to several groups and exposed to 6.25~8.5 Gy whole-body γ-rays.The hericium erinaceus polysaccharide was injected i.p before or after irradiation.The 30-day survival rate of mice was determined, and DNA content of bone marrow was observed as well at seventh day after irradiation. Results It was showed that the 30-day survival rate and DNA content of bone marrow were all significantly higher in 30 mg or 15 mg hericium erinaceus polysaccharide treated groups than those in the corresponding irradiated controls( P <0.01).The 30-day survival rate increased from 35% to 97.5%. Conclusion The hericium erinaceus polysaccharide has marked antiradiation effect. Further investigation is worthwhile. |
