Abstract:: |
Objective To observe the mutation characteristic of human bronchial epithelial cell line induced by heavy ions. Methods The human bronchial epithelium cell line(BEAS-2B)was irradiated by heavy particle beams of Li, C, and F from an HI-13 tandem accelerator with the designed dose ranging from 0.5Gy~6.0 Gy, and their hprt mutation was analyzed. Results The fitted dose dependent linear equations for three categories of heavy ions were MF=1.63×10-5 D(Li), MF=8.64×10-5 D(C)and MF=1.33×10-5 D(F) respectivelyhere the dimension of dose is Gy.The RBEs were 1.27, 6.78, and 1.04 for Li, C and F, respectively, compared with γ ray irradiation.All the frequencies of hprt mutant have also shown positive linearity with fluence. Finally, the cross sections of mutation (σ-m, 10-4 μm2) and the mutagenicity(σ m/σ i, 10-5 )for Li, C and F, were 2.61, 41.5, 21.3 and 2.08, 10.2, 2.78 respectively. Conclusion The frequencies of cell mutation increase with the dose and there seems to be LET dependence. |
