Abstract:: |
Objective To study the changes of gene expression of growth factors in wound tissues after 60 Co γ irradiation and the role of phenytoin sodium. Methods Wound tissues were collected from dorsum incision in rats,in which polyvinyl alcohol sponges had been implanted.The expressions of platelet derived growth factor B (PDGF-B) mRNA and transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) mRNA in wound tissues were determined by in situ bybridization. Results It was found that the expressions of PDGF-B mRNA and TGF-β1 mRNA were decreased after 6 Gy whole body irradiation,and phenytoin sodium significantly increased the expressions of PDGF-B mRNA and TGF-β1 mRNA in both irradiated and non irradiated wounds. Conclusion It is suggested that the decrease of expressions of growth factors in wound tissues plays an important role in the impairment of wound healing by systemic irradiation.Phenytoin sodium enhances the expression of growth factors in wound and helps improve wound healing. |
