Abstract:: |
Objective The aim of the study was to learn whether an adaptive response in human lymphocytes could be induced by natural high background radiation in Yangjiang. Methods The lymphocytes from inhabitants in the high background radiation areas (HBRA) in Yangjiang were irradiated in vitro with 1.5 Gy Co60 γ-rays,and then the chromosome aberrations were analyzed. Results The chromosome aberration frequencies in lymphocytes of people in HBRA were lower than those in control areas (CA) irradiated in the same conditions. Conclusione An adaptive response can also be induced in lymphocytes in vivo by high background radiation. |
