Abstract:: |
Objective To study the dissection structure of a Chinese head and neck phantom and to evaluate the reliability of technology and materials of phantom manufacture as well as its clinical appliability. Methods The phantom was compared with the head phantom of RSD, USA, and Chinese “Chengdu head dosimetric phantom” and with CT values, mass density, theoretical and experimental effective atomic numbers of in vivo human soft tissues, brain and parts of the skull.CT scan dose distribution was also mreasured.Results The experimental results showed that there were remarkable differences between the dissection parameters of the Chinese phantom and the American one.The equivalent error as the substitute for human head and neck is under 5%, which reaches Class A of the international standard. Conclusions The Chinese head and neck phantom can be used as a substitute for the living body radiological diagnosis, radiological treatment and protection. |
