Objective To observe the effect of buthionine sulfoximine (BSO) on glutathione (GSH) content and radiosensitvity of glioma cells. Methods Using Tietze method to detect BSO on cultured glioma cell line and glioma bearing nude mice and MTT method to observe the effect of BSO on radiosensitivity of glioma cells.Results BSO depleted the GSH content of glioma cells effectively and increased the radiation sensitivity. Conclusion Both under hypoxic and aerobic conditions BSO can deplete intracellular GSH and increase the radiation sensitivity of glioma cell. |
