Abstract::
      The current status of research on the adaptive response induced by low level exposures to environmental agents is briefly described.Emphasis is given to the characteristics of the dose response and time response relationships of adaptive response induced by extremely low dose rate ionizing radiation.Recent advances in the mechanistic studies of adaptive response to low level ionizing radiation is analyzed.A discussion is given to the outlook of application of the scientific data concerning the adaptive response induced by low level environmental agents.Suggestions are made for further research in this field.
