Abstract:: |
Objective To study harmfulness of radioiodine and its medical protection.Method By using image analysis technique and morphometry, changes in morphometric parameters in epithelial cell nuclei of rat thyroid follicles were determined 20 months after injection of 131I and 132I.Results The results showed that in various dosage groups the area and eqivalent diameter enlarged, the morphometric factor was evidently smaller than that of the control group(P<0.05 or P<0.01), and the form irregular index was significantly larger than that of the control group (P<0.05 P<0.01).The volume density, surface area density, numerical density of nuclei of follicular epithelial cells in various dose groups all showed the feature of increase at first and reduction afterwards.Conclusion It is indicated that the nuclei of epithelial cells increased and its shape became not only flat, but also anisomorphic after the cells were irradiated with radioiodine.The reason why volume density and surface area density showed increase or decrease is due to the change in numerical density of nuclei of epithelial cells.It was found by regresion analysis of the numerical density of nuclei of epithelial cells and incidence of thyroid tumor induced by radioiodine that they bear a remarkable positive correlation[Y=1/(3.37×103 +5.85×103/X1), R1=0.8435], suggesting that the incidence of thyroid tumor is related to the number of cell per unit volume. |
