Abstract::
      bjective To improve physical and chemical properties of 2,2-dimethylthiazolidine hydrochloride (DMTD) and enhance the antiradiation effect. Methods Various organic salts of 2,2-dimethylthiazolidine and cystamine were synthesized.The drug was administered to mice before 9.03 Gy 60Co gamma-ray whole body irradiation for evaluation of radioprotective effects. Results Most of these compounds showed significant radioprotective effects.Among them,DMTD tartrate 250mg/kg given i.p.1 hour before irradiation increased the survival rate by 40%.Cystamine succinate 250mg/kg administered i,p.15 min.before irradiation increased the survival rate by 77.5%. Conclusion Cystamine succinate showed marked antiradiation effect.Further investigation is worthwhile.
