Abstract:: |
The effets of in vitro 60 Coγ-irradiation on human sperm chromosomes were studied using the interspecific in vitro fertilization system between human spermatozoa and zona-free hamster oocytes.The semen samples from a healthy man were exposed to 0.00, 1.01, 1.81 and 2.99Gy ofγ-rays.The incidence of spermatozoa wthγ-ray-induced structural chromosome aberrations(Y) and structural chromosome abnormalities(Y) increased limearly with increasing dosage(D).being best ex p ressed by the equations Y=6.62+16.11D and Y=5.57+27.33D, respectively.The frequency of breakage-type aberrations was more than & times higher than that of exchange-type aberrations;the frequency of chromosome type aberrations was about 11 times higher than that of chromatid-type aberrations.The results indicated that human sperm retains a high fertilizing ability even after serious chromosomal damage. |
