Abstract:: |
Data on the mass of internal organs were obtained from measurements in autopsies performed in main medical institutions of China in 1950-1990. A total of 8273 cases who were considered to be normal developed and sudden death were chosen for analysis according to the criteria proposed for choice of subjects.The average weights and standard deviations of 12 internal organs(adrenal gland,brain, heart, kidneys ,liver, lungs, pancreas, pituitary, spleen, testes, thymus,thyroid) were calculated for both sexes and 16 age groups and the cubic spline approximation curves of organ growth with age were drawn by using Stata software.Considering age stages, sex difference, long-term trend on organ growth and convenience for application, a series of reference values of 12 organs were proposed for both sexes of various ages (0, 1, 5, 10, 15, 20-25) by means of interpolating the curves of cubic spline approximation of each organ. Also the predictive values of mass of organs were calculated by regression equations of mass of organs with body weights and compared with proposed reference values. The results are very similar between them, implying that the reference values proposed here are reasonable and matchable with the reference value of body weights.Comparisons of proposed reference value of internal organs for Chinese were made with ICRP and Japanese Reference Man. |
