| The ICRP publication 60, 1990 radiological protection recommendations, including the quantities and units, were designed to supersede all their former similar recommendations. However, there are difficulties in application because the ICRP Publication 26 recommendations are currently in use in the United States and many countries as protection standards for radiation users and because the new quantity effective dose is different from the quantity effective dose equivalent given in ICRP Publication 26. This paper discusses this difference and concludes that mixing ICRP Publication 60 and ICRP Publication 26 dosimetry systems could be misleading, so it must be used with great care according to its specifications. |
