| Objective To learn about the status of personal dosimeter wearing in routine monitoring of interventional radiology and nuclear medicine workers in China, and to provide data support for strengthening standardized dosimeter use and enhancing personal dose monitoring efforts. Methods By means of field investigation and questionnaire survey, the situation of radiation workers wearing single and double dosimeters and local dosimeters in interventional and nuclear medicine was investigated, and the data were analyzed in terms of gender, length of service, hospital level and operating duty and so on. Results In a total of 6 460 interventional radiology workers, the wearing rate of single dosimeter and double dosimeter were 19.7% and 77.4%, with the correct rate being 97% and 56% respectively. In a total of 1 668 nuclear medical radiation workers, the wearing rates of single dosimeter and double dosimeter were 52.8% and 45.7%, with the correct rate of 98% and 51%, respectively. The wearing rates of eye lens dosimeters were 15% and 6% among the interventional and nuclear medical radiation workers surveyed, while the wearing rates of hand dosimeters were less than 10%. Conclusions The correct rate for radiation workers to wear double dosimeters is lower than that of single dosimeter, and the wearing rate of local dosimeters is also lower. It is suggested to strengthen the publicity and training of standard wearing of double dosimeters, and strengthen radiation protection and personal dose monitoring for both eyes and hands that would have been overexposed in order to ensure the occupational health of workers. |
