| Chest CT examination is clinically invaluable for diagnosis of pulmonary diseases, yet its radiation protection remains a constant concern. As a major protective measure for radiation exposure to radiosensitive organs in non-scanned fields, contact shielding remains contentious in clinical radiological practice. Based on the core principles of radiation protection, this consensus analyzes the potential risks and controversies of contact shielding. It further formulates the detailed rules for contact shielding and clarifies the core responsibilities of radiological technologists in protective operations by drawing on relevant domestic and international guidelines and recommendations. The purpose of this consensus is to define the optimal practice criteria for contact shielding during chest CT scans, thereby offering scientifically standardized technical backing for the precise execution of contact shielding in clinical practice. |
