| Objective To analyze the distribution characteristics of the ambient dose equivalent rate around patients undergoing 68Ga-fibroblast activation protein inhibitor positron emission tomography/computed tomography (68Ga-FAPI PET/CT) and estimate the resultant radiation doses to nearby personnel. Methods A total of 30 patients who underwent 68Ga-FAPI PET/CT were enrolled. Ambient dose equivalent rate were measured at distances of 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, and 4 m from the patients at 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, and 3 h after injection of 68Ga-FAPI. An empirical power function model was used to fit the relationship between ambient dose equivalent rate and distance, and an exponential decay model was applied to analyze the temporal variation in ambient dose equivalent rate. Based on dose conversion coefficients, the effective doses received by nearby personnel were estimated. Results At all time points, the ambient dose equivalent rate decreased significantly with increasing distance. The fitted power exponents at 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, and 3 h post-injection were -1.73, -1.71, -1.83, -1.81, -1.79, and -1.75, respectively. The ambient dose equivalent rate exhibited an exponential decay over time, with an attenuation constant λ of 0.74 h-1 at 1 m from the patient, corresponding to an effective half-life of 56 min. At 0, 1, 2, and 3 h post-injection, a 10 min stay at 1 m from the patient resulted in effective doses to nearby personnel of 3.14, 1.39, 0.79, and 0.32 μSv, respectively. Conclusions The ambient dose equivalent rate around patients undergoing 68Ga-FAPI PET/CT declines rapidly with both increasing distance and elapsed time. The radiation doses to nearby personnel are all below the effective dose constraints specified by national standards. |
