随着社会经济的发展,人类对能源的需求日益增加[1]。为了解决能源短缺和环境污染的问题,近年来许多国家的核电事业飞速发展[2-3]。然而核电站会产生大量的放射性废料,若处理不当将会危及周边甚至全球环境和人类健康。2011年,福岛核电站事故造成大量的放射性废液泄漏,其中137Cs的泄漏和污染尤为严重[4-6]。137Cs具有较长半衰期 (30年),能够发射高能γ射线,并且具有高溶解性、高活性等特点,是主要的发热元素以及核事故中放射性的主要来源之一[7-10]。此外,铯离子能够通过食物链较为容易地进入人体。而且由于铯的性质与钾类似,进入人体后能参与钾离子的代谢过程。铯离子已经被证实参与竞争钾离子的主动与被动膜运输[11-13]。进入体内的放射性铯主要滞留在全身软组织中,并对人体造成辐射损害[14-15],导致多种疾病,如:血液异常、畸形甚至癌症等[16-17]。值得关注的是,在成年人体内的代谢半衰期至少在70 d以上[13]。因此,在核应急中对进入环境及人体内的放射性铯离子的去除,尤为重要。目前针对铯离子相关的综述主要集中在放射性铯的迁移[18]、去除放射性废水中的铯离子[19]及铯分离提取[20]等。本文将主要针对核应急中放射性铯离子去除的最新研究进展加以综述。
一、 核应急中环境中放射性铯离子的去除随着核事故的发生,放射性铯会通过大气传输到事故地以外的邻近国家和地区。2011年3月28日福岛核事故后,在我国黑龙江省在大气气溶胶中检测到了137Cs等放射性核素[21]。对切尔诺贝利核事故污染的研究表明,气溶胶中的137Cs最终会沉降到地表并附着表层土持续多年,影响土地的使用[22-23]。137Cs由于其较长的半衰期对农业、畜牧业和人类身体健康的影响将会持续几十年之久[24]。而随着废水流入太平洋的放射性铯会通过洋流进行迁移,影响其他国家和地区。水体的污染导致海产品的放射性污染,进而通过食物链的传递进入人体,危害人类健康。更有证据表明,在福岛核电站附近仍存在泄漏[25]。因此放射性铯离子污染持续影响着地球环境和人类健康。
针对大气中137Cs气溶胶的去除目前没有有效的手段,而室内气溶胶的去除可以使用空气净化器达到目的。由于气溶胶中的137Cs最终会沉降到地面,污染土壤,因而去除土壤中的放射性铯具有重要意义[18]。目前,最简单直接的方法就是移除表层土壤[25]。但是这种方法会产生大量的废物,而且仍然需要进一步处理,否则铯离子仍然会从土壤中溢出。解决该问题主要包括两种方法:一种是净化土壤,将铯离子与土壤分离;另一种是将铯离子固定在土壤中,防止其渗出。土壤淋洗净化法是一种去除土壤中的放射性铯的传统方法。该方法是利用酸作为淋洗剂,将铯离子从土壤中冲洗出来,但是该方法的去除效率较低并且会产生大量的废液[26]。而电动力学修复法相对于土壤淋洗净化法具有去除效率高,并且几乎不会产生废液[27]。该方法主要通过电迁移和电渗作用驱动铯离子富集到电极区,实现净化土壤的目的。但是该方法耗时较长,需要1周甚至更久的时间。
目前研究较多的方法是将吸附剂与土壤和水混合,将铯吸附后分离吸附剂实现土壤净化的目的。Yang等[28]最近利用包裹海藻酸钙的磁性普鲁士蓝/氧化石墨烯无机-高分子复合微球有效地去除了土壤中的铯离子。将复合微球与土壤混合,吸附平衡后将吸附剂磁分离,得到净化的土壤。针对将铯离子固载在土壤中的问题,Mallampati等[29]提出利用聚合物、陶瓷或者纳米粒子作为固体基材将土壤中的放射性铯离子紧密固载防止铯离子的滤出导致二次污染。Mallampati等[30]利用纳米金属复合物Ca/CaO/NaH2PO4在球磨反应器中将铯固载在土壤上来补救土壤。通常情况下,带正电的铯离子会附着在带负电的土壤表面,然而由于静电相互作用的强度较弱,铯离子容易再次渗出、迁移。而将纳米金属复合物与附着铯离子的土壤混合后,通过球磨作用,铯离子会被纳米复合物包封起来并且沉积、固载在土壤表面,随着球磨机的进一步作用,土壤复合物会破裂而产生新的活性表面对铯进行吸附,并在纳米金属复合物存在下通过球磨作用再次实现沉积、固载,最终达到固载防滤出的作用。
核事故发生后通常会对周边水体造成较大的影响,如福岛核事故后数千吨含放射性铯的废水泄漏入太平洋[31],因而环境水体的污染尤为严峻。亟需开发快速高效、高选择性、大容量的吸附材料来解决核事故中放射性铯离子所造成的环境水体污染问题。福岛核事故后,美国Kurion公司和法国Areva SA公司受邀对第一核电站现场进行放射性污水处理[32],分别采用了吸附法和共沉淀/絮凝的方法进行处理。可能涉及商业机密,两家公司所用的材料及工艺信息没有公开。目前文献报道的铯离子吸附材料主要包括冠醚[33]、杯芳烃[8]、磷钼酸铵[34]以及普鲁士蓝[35-37]等,用于实验室中对铯离子吸附的基础研究。其中普鲁士蓝由于无毒、环境友好、成本低、选择性好等优势受到了更多研究者的关注。为了提高普鲁士蓝的吸附速率和吸附容量,Lin等[35]、Sangvanich等[36]、Turgis等[12]以及Delchet等[37]通过不同的方法将普鲁士蓝与多孔硅相结合,通过提高材料的比表面积提高材料对铯离子的吸附容量,提高了效率。在此基础上,本课题组通过光引发巯基-双键点击反应将普鲁士蓝衍生物结合在介孔硅表面用于铯离子的吸附[38]。普鲁士蓝衍生物以有机基团的形式通过共价键修饰在介孔材料上,得到了环境友好、大比表面积、高选择性的吸附材料,实现了铯离子的高效吸附分离。然而吸附剂的分离通常需要离心或者过滤来实现,磁性材料则能实现吸附剂的快速分离。Jang和Lee[39]将普鲁士蓝与Fe3O4相结合,合成了磁性普鲁士蓝纳米粒子用于铯离子的有效分离。尽管纳米复合吸附材料在除去水体中铯离子表现出了卓越表现,但是仍然受到实际操作的限制。为了解决实际操作的问题,近期Vipin等[40]将普鲁士蓝负载在纤维素纳米纤维上,并进一步加工成海绵。该海绵可以有效去除福岛核事故受污染水体中的放射性铯,吸附效率达到99%,并且生产成本低,使用后可以压缩至小体积便于废弃处理。
二、 核应急中人体放射性铯离子的去除铯-137通过大气或者食物链进入人体后需要及时的促排以减少对人体的损害。通常对人体内铯离子促排的治疗手段主要是口服促排药物[41]。普鲁士蓝已经被证实是一种促排铯的有效药物,并在20世纪70年代制成商品化胶囊Radiogardase®用于医疗救治[12, 42-43]。普鲁士蓝具有相对无毒、耐受力强并且不会被消化道吸收的优点[44-46]。普鲁士蓝进入消化道后会与放射性铯相结合,能够减少或者阻碍放射性铯离子被再吸收至血液,最终铯离子与普鲁士蓝会随着粪便排出体外[47-48]。摄入普鲁士蓝并持续给药,会在不同程度上 (11%~64%) 缩短铯的生物半排期[49-50]。普鲁士蓝的促排效果受服药方法及起始用药时间等因素的影响[51-52]。少量多次服药来维持肠道内一定量的药物会更有利于阻碍肠道对铯的再吸收。起始用药时间越早,则促排效果越显著。
最近,Melo等[47]对近年来关于用药量 (1~10 g/d) 对普鲁士蓝促排效果的研究进行了总结和梳理,发现普鲁士蓝的促排效果随用药量增加而增强,但当用药量大于3 g/d时,普鲁士蓝的促排效果不再有显著的变化,铯离子的生物半排期差别也基本没有统计学意义。根据前人对铯离子的系统生物动力学模型分析,结合人体数据,得到了不同开始服用普鲁士蓝的时间对体内铯离子去除效果的模型预测,起始用药越早,药效越显著。Rump等[53]比对了关于起始用药时间对药效的影响,也得出了类似的结果。他们认为治疗时间的延后会造成普鲁士蓝药效的下降,而且这种下降趋势可能是持续的。在强调合理用药量的同时,确定合理的救治时间也一样重要。
尽管普鲁士蓝几乎无毒,某种程度上可以实现铯的促排,但是普鲁士蓝对人体仍然存在一定的不良反应。Farina等[54]通过对口服普鲁士蓝促排铯的患者进行血钾浓度的观察,发现服用普鲁士蓝会引起患者低钾血症的出现。而当普鲁士蓝经过消化道时,可能会对消化道造成物理伤害,引起消化道的不适[55]。在哥亚尼亚核事故发生后,Farina等[54]对42例普鲁士蓝治疗过的患者进行临床观察,发现其中10例患者出现了不同程度的便秘现象 (7例轻度便秘,3例中度便秘)。而便秘会引起肠道内铯的活性增大,增加结肠的内照射剂量值。针对这些问题,最近Tanaka等[41]利用聚乙烯醇水凝胶将普鲁士蓝包裹以此来减少普鲁士蓝直接与消化道接触造成的伤害,提高促排铯离子的安全性。以此同时,水凝胶中加入了磁性材料,以此实现促排药物在排泄物中的分离。除了普鲁士蓝以外,一些能够与铯离子结合,阻碍机体吸收铯离子,提高排泄的药物同样可以达到铯离子促排的作用。Idota等[56]利用海藻酸钙来增强排泄以减少铯离子的吸收,达到促排铯离子的效果。目前针对人体中铯离子去除的方法主要集中在促排药物,但是口服促排药物需要连续多次给药,而且需要几天到几周不等的时间来实现较高地铯离子去除率。
三、 小结与展望137Cs的高放射性和高溶解性使其通过食物链进入人体时,对人类健康造成威胁。因此,去除环境中及人体内的铯离子在核应急领域具有重要意义。目前针对环境中铯离子的去除,包括土壤及水体都取得了一定的进展。而人体中铯离子的去除主要通过口服促排药物达到目的。但是,多次直接服药会对消化道造成一定的伤害,而且较长的见效周期也会让放射性铯离子在人体内停留过长时间。因此,研究新型的核应急中放射性铯离子去除药物,仍具有重要的战略意义。
